A scarce original circa 1924 large celluloid tin button badge, depicting a lifebuoy with title "Rule Britannia Souvenir British Fleet"; the centre displaying the head of a young sailor wearing a sailor's cap with "H.M.S. Hood ribbon tally", the rim bearing maker's details "A.W.Patrick, Maker 440 RAF St. N. Fitzroy Melb" "Copyright, Regd". Good condition, retaining original pin fitting, minor foxing, colour remains bright.
Diameter 32mm.

HMS Hood built by 'John Brown & Company'. Launched 22 August 1918 and commissioned 15 May 1920. She was sunk during the Battle of Denmark Strait 24 May 1941.
While in Australia in April 1924, the squadron escorted the battlecruiser HMAS Australia out to sea where she was scuttled.
