A scarce First World War period group of three medals awarded to Staff Nurse Margaret Eleanor Riekie who was trained at the London Hospital, Whitechapel Road in East London before volunteering her services to 'Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve' in 1916.
Comprising:
WW1 British War and Victory Medal "S. Nurse M.E.Riekie". Very good condition, original silk ribbons contained in boxes of issue, medals loose.
Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve full size medal, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1916 and maker's details "B.H.J" (B H Joseph & Co Birmingham) and with retailer's details "Carringtons & Co. London". Very good condition, complete with original ribbon and pin bar suspension as worn.

Miss Margaret Eleanor Rickie, was a native of Bognor, Sussex and was trained as a nurse at the London Hospital. In September 1916 she enlisted into the Queen Alexandra Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve and volunteered for overseas service. She was posted to a Military Hospital in Malta and landed in Malta on the 2nd October 1916. She remained here until September 1917 when she embarked for service in Salonika to serve with No. 61 General Hospital which had 1,040 Beds. At the time of her discharge on the 22nd February 1919, she was serving with the 2/3 Northumberland Field Ambulance unit and her conduct was described as excellent.
