A scarce original circa 1912 - 1940 'South London Hospital for Women nurse's buckle'; rectangular nickel backing plate with an applied crest bearing the sun, waxing and waning moons and nurses 'Lamp of Knowledge' in relief, with motto `Et Dato Gaudetis'. Very good condition, attached loop present, seperate belt loop now absent.

Founded in 1912 as the 'South London Hospital for Women' named was changed circa 1940's to the 'South London Hospital for Women and Children'.
