A rare original George VI period 'RAF No 120 Squadron gilt and enamel badge', the centre bearing a Falcon and with motto "Endurance", the reverse with maker's details "H.W.Miller Ltd Branston St B'Ham.18". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt remains bright, an excellent example.
Height 33mm.

No. 120 Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps was formed at Cramlington in 1918 and was disbanded in 1919. RAF No 120 Squadron was reformed as part of Coastal Command in Northern Ireland in 1941 at RAF Nutts Corner and was credited with the sinking fourteen German U-Boats, the highest achievement in the Command. The squadron was disbanded in 1945 at RAF Ballykelly and later reformed and operated with the Avro Lancaster. It also flew the Avro Shackleton MR.1s in 1951 and later the Nimrod, it was formally disbanded on 26 May 2011
