Leicestershire Aero Club membership badge

A scarce original circa 1920's 'Leicestershire Aero Club badge'; gilded brass wings, the central red enamel shield bearing a 'Cinquefoil pierced Ermine' from the 'City of Leicester Arms' surmounted by a running fox and title scroll inlaid with blue enamel; the reverse impressed with maker's details "Birmingham Medal Co." and official issue number "666". Very good condition, retaining original horseshoe shape buttonhole fitting, enamel perfect, minimal wear to gilt finish.

Leicestershire Aero Club was formed in 1909 although without aircraft or airfield, latter to become operational from Leicester Airport.
