A good example of an original First World War period 'Cheshire Volunteer Regiment lapel badge', gilded brass large circular example, the central shield bearing three golden wheatsheaves on blue enamel ground from the ancient 'Arms of the Earldom of Chester'; the reverse impressed with maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Bolton" "REG638232" a Registered Design and Patent date of 1914, and officially issue number "2258". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole horseshoe fitting, enamel perfect except for a minor hairline and bruise to the centre virtually unnoticeable, gilt remains bright.
