Boy Scouts Gallantry Cross Award For Heroism named medal c1933

A rare original 'Boy Scouts Gilt Gallantry Cross Award', the reverse with maker's details "Collins London" and inscribed "J.Sharp 4-10-33". Very good condition, retaining original red and blue silk ribbon with suspension bar and pin fittings, minor sevice wear to gilt finish.
Height 95mm.

Scout 'J.Sharp 3rd Carder Valley Group. Gilt Cross August 9th1933. Rescuing a girl from drowning in the Rochdale Canal at Stubbing Holme Lock, on August 9th1933. Awarded October 4th 1933.

The Rochdale Canal runs for 33 miles between Manchester and Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire. I think there is a spelling mistake in Scout Award Book Entry and "CARDER Valley" should read "3rd CALDER Valley Group".
