A scarce circa 1940's 'Air Survey Company Ltd cap badge'; large padded black felt example bearing gold bullion embroidered crowned laurel leaf wreath, with superimpose eagle on maroon silk ribbed backing to the centre; the reverse with paper covered black hessian lining. Very good condition, bullion remains bright, no traces of any moth.
Height 69mm.

'Air Survey Company Ltd' founded in 1924 as part of the 'Fairey Aviation Company Ltd' group. It's main task was the mapping and geophysical survey of various parts of the world, including Iraq, India and the Far East. This the company performed throughout the 1920's operating the DH9 biplane. The company continued to the early post WW2 era in later years operating the DC3 aircraft.
