United Carters & Motormens Association trade union badge

A scarce original 1912 to 1926 relatively short lived 'United Carters & Motormens Association of England' trade union membership badge; oval shaped design, the union's title surround inlaid with dark blue enamel, the centre bearing a 'cart horse' facing left, above a 'Motor Wagon Vehicle', the reverse impressed with unusual maker's details "Manison & Son Birmingham". Very good condition, retaining original horseshoe shaped buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.
Height 30mm.

The 'United Carters & Motormens Association of England' became the 'United Road Transport Workers Association of England' in 1926.
