RAF Uxbridge No 11 HQ Fighter Group Royal Air Force badge c1940s

A scarce original George VI period 'RAF Uxbridge No 11 H.Q.Fighter Group gilt and enamel badge', depicting the clock tower of the 'Palace of Westminster' bearing superimposed 'Astral Crown' and Latin motto "Tutela Cordis" (Defence of the Heart), the reverse with maker's details "H.W.Miller Ltd Branston St B'Ham.18". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt remain bright, an excellent example.

11 Group Headquarters was at RAF Uxbridge and commanded from an underground Operations Room now known as the Battle of Britain Bunker.
