A rare original First World War period fundraising card badge, worn by a volunteer collector working on behalf of the 'British Red Cross War Fund'; the reverse with maker's details "Knight Bros. & Cooper, Ltd., Derby". Good condition, retaining original safety pin fitting, now corroded and pin DETACHED but present, at coiled end, edge rubbed.

The National Egg Collection Patron H.M. Queen Alexandra, was a national scheme started in the First World War to supply the scarce and much needed fresh eggs to the wounded soldiers and sailors recovering in local War Hospitals, weekly appeals continued well into 1919.
