During the D-Day landings they towed Horsa gliders as part of the '6th Airlanding Brigade', a task they would repeat for the 'Battle of Arnhem'. Aircraft of the Squadron also took part in the Rhine Crossing in March 1945. The squadron remained operational, until December 1946 when it was renumbered No 77 Squadron.
