A scarce First World War period well designed fund raising paper badge in the form of a large chickens egg tied in a patriotic red, white and blue bow and portraying a large 'Red Cross', 'Patron H.M. Queen Alexandra' title above and 'National Egg Collection 154, Fleet St, London' below. Very good condition, retaining original single pin fitting, colours remain bright, minor creases to bow.

National Egg Collection was a national scheme started in the First World War to supply the scarce and much needed fresh eggs to the wounded soldiers and sailors recovering in local War Hospitals, weekly appeals continued well into 1919.
