A rare original gilt circular 'On War Service' badge for the 'Nero Engine Co Ltd', manufacturer of munitions during the First World War, inlaid with red, white and blue enamel it depicts the united emblems of England, Scotland and Ireland, a Rose, Thistle and Shamrock, the reverse with maker's details "Vaughtons Ltd Birmingham". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.
Diameter 28mm.

'Nero Engine Company' was founded by 'Stanley Riley' in 1914, after the war it joined 'Riley (Coventry) Limited' as the sole producer of automobile motor cars.
