WW2 Special Forces Auxiliary Units home guard badge

A very rare Second World War period 'Home Guard Auxiliary Units' chrome and enamel badge, retaining original buttonhole fitting, enamel loss to the base of the shield, otherwise very good condition.

The Home Guard Auxiliary Units were specially selected members of the Home Guard, who volunteered in the event of a German invasions, to go underground and operate behind enemy lines in a guerrilla war. These men were skilled on the land, Gamekeepers, poachers, farmers etc, who received specialist training in small arms, explosives and demolition. These units were numbered 201,202,203. These numbers are incorporated to the front of the badge.
