A cleverly designed chromium plated wartime lapel badge, inlaid with light and dark blue enamelling, the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting and perfect enamel, an excellent example.
Height 25mm.

A W Hawksley Ltd. was formed in 1940 to build the "Albermarle" transport and glider towing aircraft designed by Armstrong Whitworth and used to carry Parachute troops at Normandy and the assault on Arnhem. Their factory was converted to the manufacture of prefabricated houses and bungalows for the Ministry of Supply at the end of the War.
