A rare original St John Hospital Oatlands 1914-1919 gilt and enamel badge. Very good condition, original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.

St John Hospital Oatlands was a Auxiliary Military Hospital opened in 1914 by Lady Meux, wife of Admiral Sir Hedworth Meux, Naval Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth. It was situated in a large private residence named Oatlands, Kingston Crescent Portsmouth, Hampshire and was lent to the local St John Ambulance Association during the First World War and was equipped with thirty beds.
