A very scarce original Great War period 'Dundee Women's War Relief Fund badge'; gilded brass circular example with title surround inlaid with blue enamel, the centre bearing the old 'City Arms of Dundee', the reverse impressed with maker's details "Rattray Dundee" official issue number "46/9". Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.
At the beginning of the war the offer by the 'Dundee Women's Suffrage Society' of their office and staff for war work was gratefully accepted by Lord Provost on behalf of the City of Dundee, and a large committee representative ladies was formed, called the 'Dundee Women's War Relief Fund Committee'.
A very rare original badge for the 'Woman Suffrage Congress London 1909', from a gilded brass bar inlaid with red enamel inscribed "London1909" depends a red silk ribbon, embroidered in white "Woman Suffrage Congress". Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, silk ribbon remains bright.
A rare original 1908 -1910 suffragette circular celluloid tin button fund raising badge, designed in the suffragette union colours, purple white and green, the centre bearing celtic cross with the letters "W.S.P.U." (Women's Social and Political Union) between each arm, the purple title surround bearing the legend "Votes for Women"; the reverse retaining its original manufacturer's paper label inscribed "Manufactured by the Merchants' Portrait Co Kentish Town Rd, London, N.W.". Excellent condition, no sign of any foxing, minimal rust.
A very rare original Suffragette badge, in the form of a gilt shield enamelled in purple, white and green the colours of the "Women's Social and Political Union", the white very pronounced and in the shape of an arrow point, the reverse with maker's details "W.O.Lewis, Howard St, BIRMm". Good condition with original pin fittings, some minor enamel damage to bottom left corner.
