A rare original circa 1930's early period 'Felix the Cat badge'; small brass black enamel cartoon character cat with paws up, displaying a giant grin, with his tail in the form of a question mark, the reverse embossed with the intriguing number '24'. Very good condition, with no stress marks or damage to the enamel, complete with original coiled pin fitting and hooked catch right for this period, silver plating appears only on his face.

London Association of British Empire Newspapers Overseas medal.


A rare original "Past President" blue enamel bar from which depends by chains an ornate silver gilt medal, the centre depicting two globes mounted on enamelled "Union Jack" within circular title inscribed "L.A.B.E.N.O" and legend "Terra Mare Fide" (By the earth, sea, and faith); the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1956, maker's details "MN&WB" (Mappin & Webb Ltd London) and inscribed "D.E.SHAW 1940-1941" Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel perfect and complete with blue silk neck ribbon.
Height approx 52mm.


The "London Association of British Empire Newspapers Overseas" LABENO was formed in 1930. The name changed In 1958 to the "London Association of Commonwealth Newspapers Overseas", finally becoming the "Overseas Press and Media Association" OPMA in 1965.
