A scarce original circa pre 1987 'Mines Rescue Service badge' brass circular example, the title surround inlaid with blue enamel, the centre displaying in relief a National Coal Board trained miner wearing hard hat and equipped with breathing apparatus, the reverse with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Regent St Birmingham'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, enamel intact. Diameter 25mm. The National Coal Board (NCB) was formed in 1946. In 1987, the NCB was renamed the British Coal Corporation.
