A scarce original 'King George VI' period 'Queen Qlexandras Royal Army Nursing Corps Association silver plated badge' inlaid with red enamel, the Dannebrog lettered "A" for Alexandra to the centre. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel. Height 33mm. In 1949 the QAIMNS 'Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service' was renamed 'Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps' QARANC. In 1953 the badge was replaced with a Elizabeth II Crowned version.

A scarce original short lived 1950 -1952 other ranks pattern 'Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps bi-metal cap badge'; King George VI crowned wreath bearing "Sub cruce Candida" (Under the White Cross) scrolls, the Dannebrog lettered "A" for Alexandra to the center "Q.A.R.A.N.C" with applied white metal title below. Good condition, complete with original two loop fittings, minor service wear. Height 40mm. State Registered Nurses were granted officer status in 1904 but did not receive regular commissions until QARANC was formed in 1949. A year later other ranks were recruited.

A scarce First World War period pair of medals awarded to Matron Jessie Ethel Hills RRC. In 1913 she was working as the Matron at the Hatton Hospital in Yorkshire and at the outbreak of the Great War volunteered her services to the Territorial Nursing Service. In 1918 she was Matron of the No.1 Base Hospital part of the Portuguese General Hospital. For her services she was awarded the Royal Red Cross and the Potuquese Order of Christ. Good condition, complete with original ribbons. Territorial Nursing Service medal privately engraved, suspension bar present but detached.
