A scarce original immediate post-war period 'Butlin's 1945 Filey holiday camp badge'; gilded brass circular example inlaid with blue and white enamel, depicting a rising sun with 'V' placed within 1945, the reverse impressed in relief 'Holidays Are Jollidays'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Diameter 27mm. Filey Holiday Camp was being built for Billy Butlin in 1939. With the outbreak of the Second World War the War Ministry financed the camp's completion, using it as housing for military personnel. Butlin reclaimed the base in 1945.
