A scarce original circa 1940's period 'Smith's Dock Company Ltd 25 years long service medal'; unmarked silver shield bearing 'Smith's Dock Company Flag', with white and blue enamel cross "S.D.Co.Ld." between the arms. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting and additional ring to attach to a watch chain, enamel intact.
Founded in 1810 trading under the name of 'William Smith & Co.' changing its name to 'Smith's Dock Company' in 1891. It built many ships that served during the Second World War, including trawlers that the Admiralty requisitioned and converted to armed trawlers of the Royal Naval Patrol Service.
A scarce circa 1970's 'Marks & Spencer 25 Years Long Service brooch' fine quality rhodium plated silver example bearing the companies "M&S" logo in voided circlet with "25" below, all set with small marcasite stones; the reverse bearing London silver hallmarks for 1973 and maker's details "CM&S". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in perfect working order, one marcasite stone absent.
A scarce large silver medal the obverse displaying the Arms of Bath with the motto "Floreat Bathon" and "Long Service Medal", the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1946 and maker's details "J.M" (Joseph Moore, Birmingham) and stamped in relief and engraved "Awarded To Miss A.Hudd For The Completion Of Fifty Years Service Messrs W & R Cook Ltd". Very good condition, retaining original ring suspention.
W & R Cook Ltd woollen mill and later a clothing factory was situated on the River Avon at Twerton, Bath, they began manufacturing ready made clothing in 1891 closing down in the early 1960's. The building was demolished in 1965.
A scarce 'Express Dairy Group' 10 Years Loyal Service lapel badge, the reverse bearing London silver hallmarks for 1964 and maker's details "C & C" (Cohen & Charles London) and inscribed "F.Dalton 1954". Very good condition, original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.
A scarce original Bowater Organisation fine quality long service lapel badge, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1951 and maker's details "Mn & Ws" (Mappin & Webb Ltd, London & Sheffield). Excellent condition, original central screwpost and nut, no damage to the enamel and retaining all of its original gilt finish to give the appearance of gold.
